Taksim Cannot Be Banned to the Working Class! We will be in Taksim on May 1st!

01.05.2025 To Our Members and the Concerned Public We, the executive board of the Road Transport Workers' Union (KATAŞ.SEN), have gathered to discuss May Day. Since the day we took our first steps toward establishing our union, we have made a promise to each other and to the public to be a combative and rights-based union. We felt we should declare this promise to friend and foe alike on our first May Day. May Day is a day of unity, struggle, and solidarity for the working class, and it is also a very important day for us drivers, a vital component of the working class. As everyone knows and doesn't deny, Taksim is the May Day celebration area. However, for years, Taksim has been open to all events but closed to the working class. While we were holding our meetings and discussions, a group of union officials and political party representatives appeared on television and announced that they would celebrate May Day in Maltepe in Istanbul. Taksim is the May Day celebration area; abandoning Taksim is a step backward. KATAŞ.SEN must take the lead, calling all other working segments to Taksim and being there. Kataş-Sen will carry with you the determination and honor of being in Taksim on May Day. Long live May Day, the Day of Unity, Struggle, and Solidarity of the Working Class!
