Attack on Public Bus Driver with Cleaver!

May 23, 2022 Our friend, Tarık Akçam, a privately owned public bus driver and member of Kataş-Sen, was attacked with a cleaver after his car was blocked. Our friend and I spent over three hours searching hospitals for a plastic surgeon. However, after more than three hours of searching hospitals, we were only able to perform surgery at the fourth hospital in Okmeydanı. How long will we remain silent against those who treat drivers with disrespect? As Kataş-Sen, we have been drawing attention to violence against drivers for months. Despite appealing to the Istanbul Electricity Transmission Corporation (İETT) and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) to take action, not a single positive step has been taken. As Kataş-Sen, we once again call on the Istanbul Electricity Transmission Corporation (İETT) and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) to take immediate action to ensure the safety of public bus drivers.
