Equal Pay for Equal Work!

26.08.2022 We are Public Bus Drivers, Carrying Istanbul!  We refuse to work 18-20 hours every day and not be able to make ends meet. Our documents meet European standards, our salaries meet African standards! 40-hour workweeks, 8-hour days. At least four annual bonuses. Cash meal allowances separate from salaries. Our Social Security premiums are shown on our earnings.  We refuse to have any social rights. No vacations, no meals, no child benefit, no holiday provisions—no nothing! Paid Annual Leave! Unconditional use of our weekly holidays, and no deductions from our salaries. Public and holiday work and weekly holiday work are paid as overtime. Fuel allowance, education, marriage, death, and wedding allowances, summer and winter work clothes.  Akbil for the public bus driver and his wife. We refuse to accept insecure and unregulated work. Because of this insecurity, we become the whipping boys of our superiors and managers, and we, the drivers, are being trampled. Safe and regulated work! Violence, insults, and similar attacks against drivers should be considered attacks on the public.  We can't make ends meet! Our fellow IETT drivers work hard and earn little, but we work ourselves to death, and the wages we earn are below the poverty line. We even try to buy the bread we buy for our families from the cheapest place.  Public bus drivers should enjoy the same wages and rights and work the same hours as IETT drivers. We demand equal pay for equal work! "Equal Pay for Equal Work means equal rights and equal pay for everyone who does the same job, regardless of language, religion, race, sect, gender, political views, or social standing." We, the drivers, have come together in our union, Kataş-Sen, to demand humane work, decent living, and decent rest. We are fighting for the results of our months-long efforts, together with all our union representatives and members, to ensure drivers live with dignity. We will get our rights!
