Massacre in the Mine in Amasra!

October 15, 2022 Zonguldak Chamber of Mining Engineers President Çağlar Öztürk announced that the death toll in the Amasra mine has risen to 41. Öztürk stated that work has concluded and that the workers' bodies will be exhumed. This is a statement from our union's organized members and representatives regarding the private public bus driver: As Kataş.Sen (Transportation Workers' Union) and the Istanbul public bus drivers, we offer our condolences to all our working brothers and sisters who lost their lives in the firedamp explosion that occurred yesterday in Amasra, Bartın, and may God have mercy on them. As in all lines of work, we know that the cheapest asset for employers is the laborers themselves. Explosions, deaths, and workplace murders in mines have been ongoing since 1941. Yesterday, Zonguldak Kozlu, Siirt, Şirvan, Manisa Soma, Amasya, and today, Bartın Amasra... The lesson we learn from all this is that, despite all the warnings, no action has been taken to end mining murders. After the explosion in Soma, which resulted in the deaths of 301 miners, all those responsible, especially the employers who were at fault, have been released; they are all out. So what will happen next? As long as all workers do not unite, the deaths and workplace murders will continue. We call on all our working brothers and sisters to show solidarity and struggle.
